Sherri Shepherd will be returning to The View as a lead contributor, reports Deadline. Shepherd’s return is part of an overhaul of the popular talk show, as ABC is looks to boost the show’s ratings after a rough 18th season.

Shepherd was among the most popular View co-hosts of the past decade, after spending seven seasons on the show, and winning an Emmy Award for hosting. She left last August after failing to agree on contract terms with ABC, but returned two months ago as a guest co-host.

Next season, The View will return to its original five-host format after opting for four this season. Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symone and Michelle Collins will return, joined by Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris. Shepherd will lead a roster of contributors that includes Stacey London and Molly Sims, among others. She is expected to appear in about 50 episodes.

In year since leaving The View, Shepherd kept herself busy. She made her Broadway debut in Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella as the first black actress to play the Evil Stepmother, she joined the cast of The Soul Man, and filmed co-starring roles in the upcoming films Ride Along 2 and Woodlawn. She also stars in and executive produces Holy And Hungry, a new series for The Cooking Channel that premieres on August 23. She also does standup, and is working on a new book.

We are not mad at Miss Shepherd’s hustle, she has mouth(s) to feed. Her child support payments are not cheap.
