We were shocked and saddened by news of Titi Branch’s reported suicide in her  Manhattan apartment last December 4. But today, Miko Branch, Titi’s sister and co-founder of their haircare line Miss Jessie’s, is making shocking new allegations about the case of her sister’s death.

Branch has filed court papers against Titi’s former boyfriend of three years, Anthony Spadafora. She alleges that his manipulative and controlling manner provoked his girlfriend’s depression, which further drove her away from her family. Miko also revealed that for a majority of Spadafora and Titi’s relationship, he treated her “like a human ATM.”

Per The New York Post, Branch accused Spadafora of excessively mooching off Titi’s money, which included extracting “hundreds of thousands of dollars from [her] to launch his own beard-care business, Maestro’s Classics; $420,000 to buy and renovate a Pennsylvania house; and a $135,000 interest-free loan.”

Miko further stated that he “wielded exceptional control over [her] while fully aware that her mental health was severely compromised…[this] all ultimately contributed and provoked Titi’s depression and eventual suicide.”

Miko also alleged that Spadafora made “sexual advances” towards Titi’s personal trainer and Titi wanted to break up with him after the alleged cheating came to light. Spadafora then went on to exhibit “extreme measures to stop” Titi from breaking up with him and threatened to share “compromising photographs that he had taken of her” to make her stay.

After Titi died, the nightmare of Spadafora worsened, her sister claims. According to court papers, Spadafora claimed that Titi granted him “50 percent of everything.” This likely occurred after an alleged business falling out between Titi and Miko, and Miko was ousted as the beneficiary of her sister’s $2 million life insurance. She instead put down Spadafora’s name down. “She was changing everything,” he has said.

Miko told the New York Post that “My sister’s death has been a devastating blow. It was only after Titi’s death that we learned more about what she’d been going through and how her affairs were being managed.”

Prior to the filing, it was reported that Spadafora didn’t want to see his association with the Branches to “turn into a war.” He’s been pleading his innocence against claims of an unhealthy relationship with Titi. He hasn’t released a statement on the lawsuit from Miko.

Spadafora and Titi met through the online dating site Match.com in 2012. According to Miko, the relationship turned serious rather quickly. After Titi’s passing, it was disclosed that he used to call her his “Lady Liberty.” The New York Post noted that he said of her: “It was a real love…I was dedicated to her; she was dedicated to me.”

Outside of dating Titi Branch, little was known of Spadafora. His aspirations of launching a men’s haircare line for beards was a venture that occurred shortly after he met his entrepreneurial girlfriend.

This is extremely sad. You never know what anyone is going through. We’ll keep you posted on developments.
