Celebrated author, Eric Jerome Dickey took home the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work Fiction for his latest novel “A Wanted Woman.” The 53-year-old New York Times best-selling author is best known for penning a huge section in the contemporary African-American literary world.

If you’ve never read an Eric Jerome Dickey novel allow me to introduce you to five of my favorite books from this seasoned fiction writer. Every book is perfect for escaping the world you are currently overwhelmed by but necessary to cure your desire for a little daily drama.

1. “A Wanted Woman” – The twenty-first novel from Dickey is a steamy thriller set in tropical Barbados. When the job goes bad under the watchful eye of a bank security camera, there is nowhere for Reaper to hide. She’s forced to deal with the fearsome local warlords, the Laventille Killers.

2. “Pleasure” – This erotic tale is set in Atlanta and is the story and Nia Simone and her insatiable appetite for more than one man. Lucky her, she happens to meet twins and she can’t pick just one. The book is filled with eroticism for your ever wandering mind.

3. “Milk in my Coffee” – Jordan Greene uproots his life in the deep south and heads to New York City where is unexpectedly meets a vivacious young white girl. Love on the other side of the color bar forces him to examine his own values and follow his own heart.

4. “Friends and Lovers” – Debra has just gotten off the sex-before-marriage merry-go-round. Leonard, a successful comedian, isn’t laughing when he confronts that crucial moment in every man’s life when he has to decide whether he’s ready for the love of a good woman. Friends and Lovers is an irresistible, sexy, and soulful tale of friendship and the search for lasting love.

5. “Liar’s Game” – Dana Smith has ditched New York city – and a cheating husband – for Los Angeles, looking for a new man, and some stability. She thinks she’s found it in Vince Browne, a hardworking aerospace technician. But she decides to hide the secrets from her past.
