In 2012, many of us were over-the-moon excited to learn that Issa had inked a deal with ABC as they bought the rights to her developing comedy series, “I Hate L.A. Dudes.” The incredible Shonda Rhimes jumped on this show idea, as she wanted it to be the first comedy series, but ABC ended up passing on the comedy series. We got a chance to chat with Issa and she told us, “ABC passed on [“I Hate LA Dudes”] so I am working on another series right now,” she said. “But the process of working with [Shonda Rhimes] was freaking amazing and I learned so much from her.”

Issa is currently co-writing and co-executive producing s new comedy project with HBO. “Cable, that’s my home,” Rae told #TeamBeautiful. And guess who has a cable network? Oprah! Maybe, just maybe our favorite awkward Black girl is inking a deal with Oprah’s network, OWN?!
