Bill Cosby can no longer ignore the backlash he’s suffered from resurrected rape allegations, so he’s having one of his reps handle it.
The “Cosby Show” star had arguably been America’s favorite dad up until Hannibal Buress reminded an audience in Philadelphia that he’s been accused of sexual assault a number of times. Ever since then, people of the Internet have continued to drag him.
Trying to defuse the situation took a sharp left earlier this month, showing Bill and his camp that they could no longer joke their way out of accountability. Bill had the opportunity to speak on the allegations during a recent interview with NPR, but he kept his mouth shut and shook his head when the subject came up.
Now his team has issued a statement on the accusations Bill’s lawyer, John P. Schmitt. “Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced,” “The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment.
John added, “He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work.”
And just to put a period on the end of this statement, John announced that this would be the only comment on the allegations coming from Bill or his people.
“There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives,” the lawyer stated in conclusion
This come just a day after it was announced that his upcoming appearance on “Late Night with David Letterman” had been canceled. Bill’s camp would not say why he was no longer going to do the show, but many assume that it has something to do with the fact that he doesn’t want to speak on the rape claims.
