According to reports, Americanah tells the story of a Nigerian blogger who spends her young adulthood in the United States trying to navigate dating and race in America. It was selected as one of the 10 Best Books of 2013 by the New York Times Book Review (who described it as “a long, star-crossed love story”), won the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Award in fiction and was shortlisted for the 2014 Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction.

This will be the second book-turned-film for Chimamanda, known popularly as the feminist voice on Queen Bey’s jam “Flawless.” Her 2006 novel, Half of a Yellow Sun, is currently in theaters starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton.
