The Clippers & NAACP Take A Stand Against Racist Owner

Over the weekend, TMZ released audio from a conversation between LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his biracial girlfriend V. Stiviano, where he demanded that she never bring black people to his games. Yes, we know what you’re thinking…

Sterling said things like: “It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?” and “…Don’t put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games.” Among some of the newly released recordings, Sterling admits he doesn’t think that he’s racist and talks about how much he’s given the black players on his team.

“I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them? Do I know that I have—Who makes the game? Do I make the game, or do they make the game? Is there 30 owners, that created the league?”

Several celebrities, sports figures and President Obama have spoken out against the racist rants and when it was time for his team to play The Golden State Warriors on Sunday, they protest the Clippers logo. The Clipper players ripped open their warm-up jackets revealing their inside-out shirts.

Watch video of the silent protest, below:

As for Sterling, his girlfriend allegedly has over 100 hours of career-damaging recordings. Oh how it sucks to be racist, especially since things are not looking ANY better for Sterling. The NAACP’s interim president, Lorraine Miller announced on the NBC’s “Meet The Press” that the NAACP won’t be awarding Sterling with his second lifetime achievement award. This would’ve been his second time in six years receiving an award from the historic organization.

Yikes.
