New York Magazine is the latest publication that can’t tell the difference between Black faces. Just one day after Bill de Blasio took his oath of office, the New York-centric weekly confused his African-American wife, Chirlane McCray, with a woman who falsely accused her father of rape!

The inaccuracy appears of the homepage of the New York Mag‘s website. An article titled “The New First Couple” incorrectly links to a feature of Chaneya Kelly’s story, titled “Did Your Father Touch You?” What an awful mix-up — especially for New York City’s new first lady!
Ouch! What a way to start off the new year.

If you’re not familiar with Chaneya Kelly’s case, she was 9 years old when she lied and told authorities her father, Daryl Kelly, raped her. He was sent to prison, where he’s still incarcerated today, and now, 16 years later, she admits to making the whole story up. She claimed her mother pressured her into the lie.
“I’m 24 years old and I made this mistake when I was 9 years old,” she said during a recent interview with NBC News, “but it’s never too late to try and right your wrong.”
We wonder what Bill de Blasio’s team thinks of all this. Check out the screenshots below and tell us your thoughts in the comment section.
