Lifetime Goes For Gold With Gabby Douglas Movie

Gabby Douglas rose to gymnastics gold in the 2012 Olympics, a feat never before done by a woman of color. Her story inspired us all and now, it will be made into a Lifetime Original Movie starring Imani Hakim, best known for her role as Tonya Rock on the UPN/CW sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris.”

Tentatively titled “The Gabby Douglas Story” chronicles the life of the “international gymnastics phenomenon.” The cast also includes Sydney Mikayla who will portray Douglas during her childhood, Peabody Award-winning actress Regina King as her mother and Golden Globe and Emmy-winner S. Epatha Merkerson as her grandmother.

“The Gabby Douglas Story” is set to air on Lifetime in February 2014.
