Steve Harvey is in the clear and his ex-wife is in jail.
According to sources, the comedian was accused of brutally beating his 11-year-old son by ex wife Mary Vaughn. In 2008, she claimed the talk show host beat their son with a belt and paddle board after receiving a phone call that he lied about turning in his homework at school. TMZ reports “cops took photos of the boy’s injuries, showing bruises on his buttocks and right thigh, as well as cuts on his leg. The police report says the boy told cops, the beating was so brutal he had trouble urinating for days.”

Fast forward to today, a Texas judge ruled that Harvey committed no crime. He was cleared of all child abuse charges, however his former wife of 16 years was sent to a Collin County jail. Vaughn was found in contempt of the court for releasing sealed information about the case to the media. (All matters of their 2005 divorce are sealed under a gag order.)
When asked to comment, Steve Harvey’s rep said, “Based on the information obtained, the child does not appear to be at risk … the case is closed without further investigation.”

Vaughn was sentenced to 30 days behind bars. She told Fox News, “I didn’t violate any court orders…This is about ‘You’re not supposed to be talking to anybody about your divorce.’ That’s what they’re saying. I’m like, this is America.”

Further, since this matter has been under seal for legitimate reasons, Judge Tucker authorized Mr. Harvey and his attorney. Bobbie Edmonds, to provide limited disclosure of information to refute the false, misleading, derogatory, defamatory, disparaging and malicious statements published by Mary Vaughn Woolridge, her agent, assign and co-conspirator, Essie Berry aka EssieRerunBerry aka Essie Rerun Berry] aka Essie Nickerson aka Essie Jackson aka Essie Alexander through his lawyer, Bobbie Edmonds, in response to the recent negative publicity, false, misleading, derogatory, disparaging defamatory and slanderous information and statements made about Mr. Harvey, his current wife, family and others. The gag order and all prior permanent injunctions remain in full force and effect. This file remains sealed.
