When President Obama’s second term comes to an end in 2017, he says his youngest daughter Sasha will be the deciding factor in whether the family stays in Washington.

During a recent interview with ABC News, the commander in chief said “Sasha will have a big say in where we are,” seeing as the now 12-year-old will be a sophomore in high school, and oldest daughter Malia, now 15, will mostly likely be off to college. (Both girls attend Sidwell Friends School in northwest Washington.)

“So we’ve got to – you know we got to make sure that she’s doing well … until she goes off to college,” he said of his post-presidential plans.

The POTUS went on to say that no decisions have been made but hinted that moving his youngest child to another city in the middle of 10th grade may be challenging. “Because she’s, you know, obviously they – and Michelle – have made a lot of sacrifices on behalf of my cockamamie ideas, the running for office and things,” he shared.

According to the Washington Post, Obama would be the first former president to remain in Washington after his lease at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. expires since dying Woodrow Wilson in 1921. “It highlights the reality that despite the cloistered and well-supported lifestyle of the American presidency, the Obamas are in some ways working parents who face a set of decisions not unfamiliar to others their age,” the paper points out.

Stephen Hess, a presidential scholar at the Brookings Institution, suggested for the first family to move away form the nation’s capital, perhaps back to their hometown of Chicago. Sticking around is “a terrible idea and I can’t imagine it will last very long,” Hess told the Post. “Once you’re in Washington you are somehow connected to every problem that your predecessor is going to be confronting. And you will be asked to say something each time your name comes up, given that you will have reporters camping out on your doorstep.”
