Meet Mama Pope
We finally get our first look at Olivia’s mother, played by actress Khandi Alexander, as Olivia sees her for the last time. Shonda gives us a peek at what the fixer looked like at 12 and shows us that like most preteens she was indeed too cool to tell her mother she loved her back, a memory surely still plaguing her now. As her mother hugs her and tells her goodbye we get the sense it’s just one of those goodbyes that was a little too long to be normal.

Like the rest of us Liv is still reeling from this piece of secrecy brought to her from the B613 brigade and she needs more details. And because showing up at the White House is an easy thing to do when you’re Ms. Pope she heads there in search of the truth she hopes will set her free.
