R&B singer Mario entrusted his heart in a lucky lady named Nicole, but it turns out, not even celebs are exempt from the dangers of Internet dating. Mario visited the HelloBeautiful offices for a routine interview about his forthcoming album “Evolve,” when he received a call from who he first called his “boo.” Surprisingly, he revealed they had never met! Flashing a cheeky smile, he agreed to allow us to follow him and capture their first interaction on camera.

Watch the encounter below:

This was all done in good fun, but situations like this do exist and occur on a daily basis. MTV’s “Catfish” set out to expose the dynamic of online relationships and Broadcast it to a major audience, while uniting couples in the process. While Mario’s pretend scenario ended well–he accepted his catfish for who she was and not how she looks–every experience doesn’t end so fairy tale-like. Each Tuesday night, when “catfish” airs, it is a cruel reminder of how much a person’s physical appearance plays in so-called “true love.” It also says something about the individual living a lie. They tend to have low-self esteem and are looking for love despite their outer qualities.

#TeamBeautiful would like to thank Mario for his good sportsmanship. Be sure to pick up his album “Evolve” (release date TBA), featuring the hit single ‘Somebody Else’.
