The head of production company Family Tree Entertainment, Micheal Williams, is attempting to launch a gun buyback program in conjunction with the NYPD in exchange for the tickets to Beyonce’s Mrs. Carter Tour. The program is called “Guns For Greatness.” Take that in for a minute. Let it marinate.

As someone who was trying to get tickets for King Bey’s Barclays show in August–which was has sold out repeatedly–I know that getting your hands on a pair of the hottest tickets in town is damn near impossible.

The Daily News got their hands on a letter from the NYPD about the Guns For Greatness program:

“A disturbingly high number of these [gun] victims are young people. As Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Mayors Against Illegal Guns and others have noted strongly, the issue of gun violence is an urgent crisis that requires immediate attention.”

Yahoo News is reporting that Commissioner Ray Kelly is down for the guns for Beyonce tickets tactic. Kelly said, “We need to get as many guns off the streets, and if this works, we’d like to support it.” With this program is still up for review and Beyonce not offering up her support (as of yet), there’s no guarantee that this will actually become a thing. However, there is already a Cash For Guns program going on, so the idea isn’t too far-fetched. In theory, it sounds a bit nuts.

Beyonce isn’t the only superstar Williams has his sights set on for the Guns For Greatness program. He also hopes to get Bey’s other half, Jay-Z involved. Something tells me Beyonce won’t want anything to do with this. Bey’s typically not the type to let her politics show to the world. And I definitely don’t think she’s going to open up about gun control.

What do you beauties think? Will Guns For Greatness work?
