You’ve heard the screams from anxious “Twilight” fans and witnessed the lines around neighborhood theaters as vampire and ware wolf-lovers banned together to watch the final installment of “Twillight” in harmony. This time around, whether you’re #TeamJacob or #TeamEdward didn’t matter, you could watch the infectious flick beside a lycan and not care, as long as you have the chance to see Bella and her off-beat demeanor transform into a vicious blood sucker.
For the second week in a row, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” commanded the top spot at the box office with over $290 million in ticket sales (not to mention overseas sales of $350 million), reports MTV, and if you haven’t seen it or any of its predecessors, you may be wondering “What’s the big deal?”
I asked myself that same question, months ago, before popping in the first DVD. I didn’t move until I was four films in and craving to see more. It’s something about Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, and Edward’s, played by Robert Pattinson, relationship that keeps you so wrapped up in their connection. It’s almost unworldly, their love.
When it all boils down, and you remove the white makeup that gives the vamps that pale appearance, it’s a genuine love story about a man who will go to no extent to protect and save his woman. Corny right? But, hey what’s a chick flick with the corn? Anyway, here’s 5 reasons, even black people love the last “Twillight”:
-With two major action movies: “Skyfall” and “The Dark Knight” released earlier this year, you would think no other film could even come close to the remarkable and over-the-top action sequences of those theatrics, but “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 2,” hold its own against the competitors. I’m talking about vicious altercations that leave people headless!
-Jacob, the only actor in “Twillight” with some melanin, goes shirtless!
-A black person saves the day!
-Bella is “riding around and getting it” in a fabulous Aston Martin!
-You won’t find love like the force between Bella and Edward anywhere else! And, because love isn’t black or white!
