I love make up-if only just for the artistic side of it. I don't personally go all out on the everyday look, but when i'm stepping out, i think with me, bigg shit's poppin- but then I see some women who for real would call themselves naked with out their "face on". When you are covering up FOR beauty instead of ENHANCING your own, that's where the issue lies. I would want my daughter to be proud of what she has naturally and to bring out the best of what she has with less cosmetic use as possible when the time is right for her. And it wouldn't be at no damn 2-3 yrs old! and and I'll try to be the one who influence's her look more so than her friends when she's of school age- I refuse to let them bitches have that kinda power ova my child! damn right! *gigglin*

I AGREE WITH CHRISSYB SHE IS CORRECT! MY CHILD IS 19 AND WE DID EXACTLY WHAT CHRISSY DID AND EVEN NOW SHE DOES NOT WEAR A LOT OF MAKE UP. YOU WILL FIND MOSTLY LIP GLOSS. THIS A PROVEN WAY OF DOING THINGS I HOPE THIS ADVISE IS TAKEN.

I'd let my girls get little manicures and pedicures when they were small.....6, maybe. No acrylic, just a plain manicure, and they could only have clear or light pink polish, something appropriate for a little girl. Not even a french tip. They started wearing lipgloss around 8 or so, clear or a neutral color in the brown family. The summer before they started high school, they get a full lesson on skin care and makeup. At that point, I'll give them an eye liner, mascara and 2 or 3 lipglosses. At 16, they can start wearing full makeup, I leave it along unless it's tacky or something. My oldest is 18, and she still doesn't wear a lot....she does foundation to hide some scars from chicken pox a few years ago, some eyeliner and lipgloss. My 13 year old is excited she get to learn about makeup this summer, before she starts high school.

It just has to be kept age appropriate. Nothing bright or tacky or outrageous.

I started getting my nails done at 13 years old and I also started to try (attempt) and wear makeup. What influenced me were the other girls who were my age and popular back in middle school. Sad thing is that those same girls dropped out before high school, had a ton of babies, and are bi sexual now.

It seems like little girls are growing up fast. I started getting my nails done professionally when I was about...11. And that was just so I would stop biting them. My mom figured that if they looked pretty I'd stop biting them. She was right. I didn't start wearing make-up until maybe...14.

But my personal view is that a girl should at least TRY to learn how to put on make up around 13 or 14. But that they should also start a good skincare routine so that they won't have to wear make-up to cover up acne or flaws, but enhance her beauty.
