Autumn Adeigbo’s last name is a Yoruba word that means, “the crown that is passed down,” and it couldn’t be more appropriate. The popular designer, who is the daughter of Nigerian immigrants, developed her love for fashion as a little girl watching her mother sew many of her clothes. She was even voted “Best Dressed” in the fourth grade.

Eventually, Adeigbo received a degree in Economics from Spelman College and studied fashion design at Parsons, the New School of Design. Determined to pursue her passion for fashion, she landed jobs with top-notch designers like Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui, and assisted stylists like Andrea Lieberman, Leslie Fremar and Rebecca Weinberg. The design diva’s collaborations with world-renowned stylists and designers have helped to create the style personas of clients like Gwen Stefani, Maggie Gyllenhall and more.

After nearly a decade of putting in work for other people, Adiegbo decided to launch her own eponymous line of clothing in Fall 2009, which was inspired by her worldly experiences in the fashion industry as well as her African roots. Having been featured by various outlets like Marie Claire magazine, Ebony magazine, Time Out New York, Vogue.com and more, she has established herself as a tour de force in the fashion world and she gives back in the process. A percentage of all proceeds goes to Women for Women International, an organization that works toward empowering female survivors of war in Nigeria, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Sudan.
