With all types of tributes starting to pop up to honor the late Whitney Houston, “Glee’s” cover of “I Will Always Love You” by Mercedes, played by Amber Riley was one of the most moving thus far and it wasn’t even meant as a memorial to the fallen icon.

The song was meant for their Valentine’s Day episode that aired last night, which was taped before the singer’s untimely death. Very eerie, but definitely one of the show’s best renditions of a popular song to date. With one of the strongest voices in the cast, “Glee” managed to tone down their usually over-the-top performances for something tasteful and moving. Rest in peace, Whitney.
