Chris Brown released the latest single, “Sweet Love” from his upcoming album, Fortune. seems to be making quite the comeback. Even though he and Rihanna faced harsh criticisms, he appeared on her “Birthday Cake” remix and the features didn’t stop there. Breezy laced Nick Minaj’s “Right By My Side” and DJ Khaled’s “Take It To The Head.”
I understand that Chris has grown up and in that growth has been putting out a lot more songs that are sexually charged, but there’s something about Breezy crooning, “Let’s get naked, just so we can make sweet love,” that rubs me the wrong way.
Here’s four reasons why I just can’t with Chris Brown’s oversexed songs.
1. Spell It Out
Instead of hitting us off with clever sexual innuendos, Chris Brown puts it all out there for us to experience and it feels a bit…clinical. Cold. “Sweet Love” is living proof of that. “All these sensations, got me going crazy, love inside and out of you, grinding inside of you
baby you know what to do, baby you know what to do. So come on, baby girl, let’s just take our clothes off
just so we can make sweet love.”
2. The Way You Make Me Feel
Trey Songz makes me feel sexy. Usher makes me feel sexy. Hell, even Tank makes me feel sexy, but Chris Brown makes me like I just want to get up and dance. Although there are parts of him I find sexy, I’d rather him not to try to play up being this sex symbol. Breezy doesn’t make me feel sexy. He makes me feel…like dancing.
3. Private Dancer
And speaking of dancing–yes Chris can sing and most times I’m enjoying it, but I’d much rather watch him dance. I can take him being sexual when he dances. Does that make me a hypocrite?
4. Got Bars?
Chris’ rapping skills far exceed his sexy singing skills. I’m down to hear more bars than I am him telling me to disrobe.
