UPDATE 1:

With the third day of political unrest underway in Charlotte, North Carolina, it’s been reported that a man shot on Wednesday during the protests has died.

According to NBC affiliate WCNC, the man, whose name hasn’t been released to the media, was shot around 8:30pm in what police describe as a “civilian vs civilian” interaction. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was in critical condition on life support, succumbing to his injuries on Thursday.

As reported earlier, these protests are a direct response to the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scotta disabled man who was killed by Charlotte police earlier this week while reportedly reading in his car. While his family maintains that Scott was unarmed, the local police claim Scott had a gun and a posed a threat.

Police have yet to release any video or audio of Scott’s shooting.

Not too long before Scott’s death, unarmed Black man Terence Crutcher was shot near his stalled car in Tulsa, Oklahoma by Officer Betty Shelby. Video released contradicted the police officers’ initial account that Crutcher had a gun–he was actually unarmed and had his hands up in the air. On Thursday, the officer responsible was charged with first-degree manslaughter for his death.
