The man who drunkenly shot and killed 22-year-old Tiarah Poyau for refusing to dance with him at the J’Ouvert celebration in Brooklyn, New York, was indicted on Monday.

Reginald Moise was charged with second-degree murder for shooting the college student in the face. The 20-year-old faces 25 years to life behind bars.

According to the New York Post, Moise “did not appear before Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge John Hecht to hear the decision, which comes just a week after he allegedly shot Tiarah Poyau through the eye as she partied with friends.

“He has told investigators that he did not know that the weapon was loaded, claiming he was so drunk that he didn’t know the shooting had occurred, authorities said.”

Poyau was one of two killed during last week’s parade. Tyreke Borel, 17, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the hospital. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
