Known as Bill Cosby’s ride-or-die attorney, Monique Pressley is no longer representing her controversial iconic client. While she only worked for him for a year, she is the second attorney to leave the comedian’s legal side during his high-profile sexual assault case.

No reason was given as to why she’s no longer on the payroll, but Cosby’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, confirmed to Deadline that Pressley is no longer defending The Cosby Show star, who has been accused by 60 women of sexual assault.

Prior to her departure, Pressley was a major player in the case, holding Cosby’s hand when he was first arrested on criminal chargers for rape last December and recently announcing that the 78-year-old had gone blind. She was also a staple on cable news shows holding her own and defending her client, by what some accused of victim blaming, by asking questions such as “why did the accusers wait so long to come forward,” and stating that victims owe society to file charges “immediately.”

A lawyer for several women who filed defamation lawsuits against Cosby previously tried to have Pressley removed as his attorney, claiming she failed to complete proper paperwork before she represented Cosby’s wife in a February deposition in Massachusetts, a state where she is not legally allowed to practice, the New York Daily News noted.

Pressley’s resignation also comes after a Philadelphia appeals court ruled that Cosby could not have his deposition in the Andrea Constand case resealed, Jezebel wrote.

As HelloBeautiful previously reported, Constand, a former Temple University basketball coach, alleged that Cosby drugged and assaulted her at his Pennsylvania home in 2004. While Cosby has maintained his innocence for this accusation and the other assaults he’s been accused of, in 2015, Cosby was arrested, briefly detained, and criminally charged for assaulting Constand.

The outcome of that trial has yet to be determined.
