Name Of Charles Kinsey’s Shooter Revealed,  Member Of The SWAT Team

The police officer who shot an unarmed black mental health therapist Charles Kinsey has been identified as SWAT team member Jonathan Aledda, the Huffington Post reported.

Aledda, who has been on SWAT for four years, shot Kinsey on “accident” while aiming for the autistic patient Kinsey was taking care of, a police leader professed in a recent press conference. (As if shooting an autistic makes this any better.)

However, Kinsey’s lawyer, Hilton Napoleon isn’t buying the police department’s explanation. He stressed that he doesn’t believe that an experienced SWAT team member would be such a poor shooter and he questions why the officer didn’t tell Kinsey to move away if from the intended target,  the Huff Po noted.

He’s got a point.

Aledda is currently on administrative leave while officials conduct their investigation.

#BlackGirlMagic: Roxanne Gay and Yona Harvey Will Write Black Panther Spin Off

In more Marvel good news, Black feminist writer Roxane Gay and poet Yona Harvey have been tapped to write a new comic series set in the same world as Ta-Nehisi CoatesBlack Panther series, The New York Times reports.

World of Wakanda, which is set to debut on November, will explore the stories and lives of the women who reside in Black Panther’s universe. According to Entertainment Weekly, Gay’s first tale, which Coates will co-write, has a lesbian storyline about two members of Black Panther’s all-female security team who end up falling in love. Meanwhile, Harvey’s first story will focus on Zenzi, a female revolutionary character that was introduced in the first issue of Coates’ Black Panther series.

According to the Times, Coates recruited the writers, saying that in addition to having diversity on the page, he needed that to happen on the payroll as well. “We have to open the door. It’s not, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice if there are more women writers, more women creators in comics?’ That would be nice, but in many ways, it is kind of an imperative,” he said.

Gay and Harvey are the first Black female writers in Marvel’s 77-year history.

He announced his intended run in a press release where he stressed that he “believe[d] in equal rights for all and respect for all Americans” but that “what makes me different is that I also demand respect for the rights and heritage of European Americans.”

As we all know, Duke is a huge Donald Trump supporter and believes that the reality star “embraces” the issues he’s “championed for years.”
