Six-Year-Old Arrested For Stealing Candy From Teacher’s Desk

A security guard decided to teach Madisyn Moore a lesson after the six-year-old stole candy from her teacher’s desk. The Fernwood Elementary school student claims she was “snatched” out of class, placed in handcuffs and forced to stand under a dark staircase. When Madisyn’s mother, Marlena Wordlaw arrived, she was livid. “When he pulled her from under the stairs she was crying,” Wordlaw said about her daughter. “[The security guard] told me ‘I ‘m doing my job, I’m trying to teach her a lesson.’ I understand these teenage boys and whatever the case may be, you can try to teach them a lesson but this is a little girl.” While the school’s principal has since apologized for the way in which the child was reprimanded, Wordlaw said “I don’t accept your apology ever. I’m more angry than anything, because it’s my only daughter” she said. “I feel like anything could have happened to her. Somebody could have touched her. She’s in the dark under the stairs” she added. Wordlaw is reportedly planning to file a lawsuit against the school. NBC Chicago

Several hotel chains are looking to revitalize Cuba as a tourist destination. The U.S. Treasury Department recently approved Starwood Hotels and Resorts application to pursue partnerships with hotels in the Caribbean country. Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson accompanied President Obama’s recent historic trip to the island. Apparently, all Cuban hotels are currently state owned and have poor infrastructures; the new deal will allow the newly established properties to be up to U.S. standards. USA Today
