IHOP Waiter Gets Fired For His ‘Racist, Poor Choice’

An Austin, TX couple got a side of racism with their steak and eggs. While dining at Ihop, Ariana Brown noticed that her receipt said, “Blk Ppl”. Their waiter, Dwayne Williams chose to keep track of his orders amidst a busy morning by identifying the couple by their skin color. “What does this mean? Are you going to do something to my food or my card”? Brown said. Her boyfriend, Rolman Sparkman was frustrated by the situation because Williams was also African American. “People are being racist, and it’s your own people being racist toward you for no reason” he said. Ihop has since issued an apology. “This was a poor choice made by our franchisee’s team member, and is not in keeping with policies and procedures.  We recognize that it could be offensive and sincerely apologize. Everyone is welcome in our restaurants and our franchisee is using this as a teachable moment for the entire team so that it will not reoccur.” Williams has since been fired. FOX7
