UPDATE: Looks like Grier was doing what he does best – just joking!

According to KFC, the In Living Color star won’t be taking on the role of Colonel Sanders after all. The fast food corporation was just as taken aback by the announcement as we were. See what they had to say below:

Kevin Hochman, chief marketing officer for KFC, also shared in a statement that “there is no new Colonel Sanders.”

WELP! Moral of the story is, you shouldn’t take the word of a man who describes himself as a “teller of tall tales” in his Twitter bio. *Kanye shrug*

This is what happens when bad chicken happens to good people. KFC’s Colonel Sanders is getting a makeover in a MAJOR way. The typically white fictional character will now be played by none other than David Alan Grier, the first African-American to take on the role.

Grier took to his Twitter to announce the news. Take a look at what he had to say below:

While we’re happy that Grier is breaking boundaries and adding diversity to the overly whitewashed fast food corporation – what in the actual f*ck is going on?

KFC has been attempting to revitalize its brand in the past year by enlisting a slew of white actors such as Jim Gaffigan and Saturday Night Live‘s Darrell Hammond.

Beauties, do you think KFC will reel in more customers with David Alan Grier as their spokesperson?
