Celebrities are continuing their public endorsement of presidential candidates. Less than a week after K. Michelle began campaigning for Clinton, the former Secretary of State has another major star behind her.
Comedian, author, radio and talk show host, Steve Harvey has announced his support of Hillary Clinton. During his radio show he said, “She has fought for social justice, equality and policies that expand civil rights and economic opportunity out there.”
Hillary also appeared on a recent episode of Steve’s popular daytime talk show where the two expressed their gratitude for each other. He went on to commend Hillary for her commitment to addressing issues that most frequently plague the black community.
“As President, you really plan on building on the progress that President Obama has made to deliver some real results for a lot of Americans, including African-Americans,” said Steve.
“And I’m endorsing you as my candidate for President of the United States and I just think that you’re going to just do the right thing for the majority of the people in this country.”
In response, Hillary thanked Steve for using his platform to provide resources to Flint residents in the midst of their water crisis. She also acknowledged him for advocating for voter registration.
“This means so much to me, Steve. It really is very much an honor to have your support and your endorsement because you try to bring issues as controversial as gun control and voting rights and so much else to people’s attention. And I really appreciate that” said Hillary.
The segment ended with the former Secretary of State sharing that if elected, she plans to expound upon Obama’s Affordable Care Act.
“Under that act people have really been advantaged and African-Americans have probably been more so than anyone because for the first time a lot of working folks got access to health insurance,” she said.
