The winners of this evening’s NAACP Image Awards are subtly acknowledging #OscarsSoWhite in their acceptance speeches.

As she graced the stage to receive her award for “Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series”, the always outspoken Taraji P. Henson said, “We don’t have to ask for acceptance from anyone. We are enough and we have always been enough.”

Similarly, Tracee Ellis Ross reiterated the importance of having an awards show that honors black excellence.

During her acceptance speech for “Outstanding Actress In A Comedy Series” she said, “Thank you NAACP for seeing us, for celebrating us, for recognizing us and for giving us this moment to see each other and our beauty and our talent and our power and our voice and who we are.”
