#BernieSoBlack is currently trending on Twitter. Perhaps it has to do with a democratic presidential event not going as planned in Phoenix yesterday. Sanders, along with Governor O’Malley of Virginia, were confronted by demonstrators. Many considered the event disruptive, even when they were in support of the message of the demonstrators. Sanders was forced to leave his prepared remarks and answer to questions about police brutality and racial inequality.

The Vermont senator is running on a more liberal platform than Hillary Clinton  – the two are seen as the front-running competitors for the Democratic nomination in the 2016 presidential election. From the hashtag and tweets, it would seem that Black Twitter might not be here for him. It doesn’t mean they’re here for Clinton either though. (In fact, if you peep the hashtag, it’s clear that many are not.) Or maybe they’re having some fun at Bernie’s expense. Maybe it’s just for kicks or maybe it’s humor with a purpose.
