Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, was laid to rest Saturday after his untimely death from brain cancer last week.
An emotional President Obama eulogized Biden, 46, describing him as a man of integrity who didn’t have a “mean bone in his body.”
“Beau Biden brought to his work a mighty heart, he brought to his family a mighty heart,” Obama said.
He described the former Delaware attorney general as an “original” who did “in 46 years what most of us could not do in 146. He left nothing in the tank. He was a man who led a life where the means were as important as the ends.”
Beau’s brother Hunter Biden also spoke at the service, recalling how when they were toddlers in the hospital after the 1979 car accident that killed their mother, Beau had whispered to him “I love you, I love you,” over and over again. On his brother’s deathbed, Hunter said he did the same for him.
Coldplay’s Chris Martin, having heard that Beau was a fan of his music, performed “Til Kingdom Come” at the service.
Biden was buried with full military honors. Mourners waited hours to pay their respects in the two days preceding his funeral.
