Because there’s not enough racist chants going viral…some University of Oklahoma frat boys from Sigma Alpha Epsilon were caught singing a racist chant: “There will never be a n*gga in SAE.” Now, the national headquarters for SAE is closing its chapter at the school. Good. The headquarters called the video “inappropriate” and said they were “disgusted” by its members behavior. All the members have also been suspended, with “their membership privileges revoked permanently,” the national SAE office said in its statement.

This is a swift and fair decision against these racist students who think they’re spreading their bigotry behind closed doors. Someone on that bus leaked the video and now the world knows how they are. We’re sure this isn’t an isolated incident and that many other predominately White schools littered with all-White fraternities may share similar stories. But this is a slice of America–unfiltered and racist. In 2015 the allure of the word “n*gga” is so strong that White frat boys sing it in haunting chants. It’s sad.

Brad Cohen, the fraternity’s national president acted immediately once he was made aware of the video. “I called an immediate board meeting and we determined with no mental reservation whatsoever that this chapter needed to be closed immediately,” he said in a statement. “I am proud of my fellow board members because we mean what we say.”

The shocking video is only nine seconds, but that’s more than enough time to knock the wind out of you. The song’s lyrics are:

“There will never be a ni**** in SAE.
There will never be a ni**** in SAE.
You can hang him from a tree, but he can never sign with me
There will never be a ni**** in SAE.”

And with the cultural climate we’re in, activists refuse to stand and allow blatant racism to plague their school. Students with the activist group Unheard OU are planning to protest the fraternity on Monday morning on campus.

The SAE national office has since released an apology:

“We apologize for the unacceptable and racist behavior of the individuals in the video, and we are disgusted that any member would act in such a way,” SAE’s national office said. “Furthermore, we are embarrassed by this video and offer our empathy not only to anyone outside the organization who is offended but also to our brothers who come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities.”
