BET Enlists Vanilla Ice To Perform At Selma Concert & The Internet Isn’t Having It
In today’s WTF news, BET announced Vanilla Ice will perform at their upcoming Selma Anniversary concert to commemorate the Bloody Sunday march on Selma. Were all the Black entertainers busy?
“Vanilla Ice was in the Soul Train Awards two years ago and he’s a really cool person. When we call him for things he likes working with us and we like working with him,” said Paxton Baker, president of BET Event Productions. “He’s one of the people we call to participate in things with us, and if he can do it he absolutely will. I sent him a text and within two minutes his response was two words: ‘I’m in.’”
So no one told Baker or Ice, this was not a good idea? Sigh. We wonder what Harry Belafonte, who is also set to attend, has to say about this.
In BET may have messed up on that one, but fans are surely looking forward to seeing Rick Ross, Bell Biv DeVoe, Flava Flav, Doug E. Fresh, MC Lyte, D-Nice and more perform “Self Destruction.”
