The children of the late Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr are starting to inch one step closer to ending their legal fight against each other. The slain civil rights leaders sons Dexter Scott and Martin Luther King III have been in a battle with their sister Rev. Bernice King over their father’s traveling Bible and 1964 Nobel Peace Prize medal. The Estate of Martin Luther King Jr Inc.,  where Martin III is the chairman and Dexter Scott is the president and CEO, went to court to have a judge force Bernice to hand over the items, after the board of directors last January voted 2-1 against their sister to sell. The Associated Press is reporting the siblings may be ending their disputes over their father’s possessions.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney temporarily suspended any action in the case at the request of all parties involved to allow them to work out their issues. The case is expected to head to trial on March 25, if the siblings aren’t able to reach a settlement to dismiss the case. Last year, the King brothers filed suit against their younger sister after she refused to return medal and the traveling bible which President Barack Obama used to be sworn in for his second inauguration ceremony. This latest development comes on the heels of both Martin III and Dexter dropping part of a lawsuit earlier this week against the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change where Bernice, serves as the CEO. The estate sued the center after they accused it of having hundred of Kings belongings in “unsecure and unsafe conditions,” at the King Center, where it violated the terms of their agreement.
