It was unanimous across the Internet that CNN’s Don Lemon was a total wreck of a reporter for most of 2014 and basically in life. A week into the new year, he’s already giving us our first clip to cringe at. While interviewing Arsalan Iftikhar, a Muslim human-rights lawyer, Lemon had no chill in asking the gentleman, “In August, 16 percent of French citizens said they support ISIS. Would you describe those that support ISIS as Islamic extremists? Do you support ISIS?”#JesusTakeTheWheel

Iftikhar was stunned and gave a little justified sass in responding, “Did you just ask me if I support ISIS? And I just answered your question. I said that obviously these 16 percent of people support the ideology and I don’t think that would necessarily extrapolate the supporting of killing innocent people. You can have sympathy for an ideology and not support the mass murder, and that’s what the vast majority of Muslim [people feel]. We’re as horrified as everyone. We grieve with the victims and the people of Paris.”

Iftikhar appeared on Lemon’s show to discuss the recent murder of 12 staff members of the French mag Charlie Hebdo, as they were killed by Muslim extremists angry at their satirical depiction of Muhammad. He was speaking on behalf of the many devoted to the Muslim and Islam faith that do not support such horrifying acts. One of the victims was actually a Muslim himself, a French policeman.

Lemon’s faux pas happens at the 4:35 mark in the video above.

Hey Don, let’s not have too many of these awkward moments in 2015, m’kay? Please and thank you. Signed, #TeamBeautiful.
