The mothers of Trayvon MartinMichael Brown, Eric Garner and Tamir Rice came together for the first time on Dec. 12  to sit for a joint interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. The moms of the four dead unarmed black males along with attorney Benjamin Crump, expressed to Cooper if their sons were white they would still be alive. Gwen Carr the mother of Garner, who was killed after being placed in a chokehold by a Staten Island police officer told Cooper when asked, she was sure her son’s right’s were violated.

Gwen Carr:Yes they were. Yes they definitely were. Because if Eric Garner was a white man in Suffolk county doing the same thing that he was doing. Even if he would have been caught selling cigarettes that day, they would have given him a summons and he wouldn’t have lost his life that day. I believe that 100 percent.

Sybrina Fulton, mother of Martin, who was shot and killed in 2012 by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman, felt white America didn’t understand what minorities are going through. Martin was walking back to his father’s house in Sandford, Fl after purchasing a bag of Skittles and a can of iced tea from a convenience store, when he was spotted by Zimmerman. Zimmerman claimed the unarmed teen looked suspicious and proceeded to follow him. Zimmerman called the police about Martin’s behavior and was told by authorities not to continue perusing him. The two then engaged in a confrontation where Zimmerman shot and killed the teen. He was later charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter but was acquitted. Fulton remarked:

Sybrina Fulton: It’s not happening to them, so they don’t quite get it. They don’t quite understand. They think that it’s a small group of African Americans that’s complaining. Oh what are they complaining about now?
