After a Staten Island grand jury on Wednesday decided to not indict officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner, the unarmed Black man whose death while in a chokehold was captured on video. During a press conference at the National Action Network headquarters in New York City Wednesday evening alongside Reverend Al Sharpton and Garner’s mother Gwen Carr and Garner clearly reached a breaking point when she placed her hands on her hips and spit venom from her lips:
“Hell, no! The time for remorse was when my husband was yelling to breathe. That would have been the time to show some type of remorse, or some type of care for another human being’s life, when [Eric Garner] was screaming 11 times that he can’t breathe. So there’s nothing that [Pantaleo], or his prayers or anything else that would make me feel any different. No, I don’t accept his apology, I could care less about his condolences. No, I could care less. He’s still working. He’s still getting a paycheck. He’s still feeding his kids and my husband is six feet under and I’m looking for a way to feed my kids now.”
YES! This is the realest reaction we’ve ever heard from a woman who is broken because America’s justice system is. What do you think about Esaw Garner’s passionate speech? Sound off in the comments below.
