There’s nothing like waking up ten minutes late for a meeting, frazzled and totally dead to the bed. Fortunately, Michael Costello’s Spring/Summer collection models rocked the perfect look for the woman on-the-go who doesn’t have all the time in the world: slicked-back hair with a fierce cat-eye. The look is simple, but makes a major statement.

“I think we are going to see a lot of straight, healthy and shiny hair, so investing in a good thermal protector is key,” said CHI Haircare Lead Stylist Linh Nguyen. “Today we’re using CHI 44 Iron Guard Style & Stay because it protects strands from heat damage and also leaves hair with a smooth, sleek finish with lasting hold.” Nguyen suggests allowing your hair to cool after smoothing it with CHI G2 Ceramic & Titanium Hairstyling Iron. “Manipulating hair while it’s still warm could cause hair to become kinky or frizzy.”

The look was paired with a strong cat-eye that will never go out of style. As much as we love how low-maintenance it is–at least you don’t have to worry about blending different colors–there’s an art to getting the perfect line. Lead NARS makeup artist Uzo for Michael Costello was working her magic backstage for the designer’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection, and was on-hand examining each model’s cat-eye and giving us some tips on how to perfect our own.

The makeup inspiration for the show was, as Uzo said, “elegant, L.A. glam brought to New York,” which meant dramatic eyes and simple, beautiful, illuminated skin. “We have a strong eyebrow, cheeks are muted,” she said, “but center stage is illumination.” Uzo also commended Michael for approving a makeup look that works on any complexion, after acknowledging the diversity of models in Michael’s show. “Michael kept it very real,” she said.

Even with the look’s focus on the skin, Uzo’s perfected cat-eye technique was necessary. So, how do you achieve the look on your own? “I’ve been working on makeup for 20 years and I always stencil (the line) in first and get it on. I trace it first, then lock it with liquid liner or eye gel.”

Get The Look: Hair

Divide your hair into sections, mist each section with the CHI 44 Iron Guard, distribute the product by brushing through with a paddle brush and smooth the hair with the CHI G2 Hairstyling Iron.

Once all sections are smoothed, apply CHI 44 Iron Guard Style & Stay  from the root area to the nape. Brush the hair away from the face, forming a C-shape that echoes the natural curve of the head.

“Set” the hair in place with a dryer. Try CHI TOUCH Touchscreen Dryer!

Complete the sleek texture by applying CHI Pliable Polish to the ends of the hair and spraying CHI Shine Infusion from the nape area to the ends.
