It looks like Halle Berry’s trying to put down some roots on CBS!

With the fate of her futuristic, sci-fi show “Extant” teetering on the fence, Deadline.com reports that Halle has begun working on a new project.

The Oscar winner and her production company, 606 Films, have teamed up with writer Larry Kaplow for an untitled medical drama. This is uncharted territory for Halle, so she’s brought “House” producer Katie Jacobs onboard for the project. Clearly, Katie knows a few things about producing a hit medical series!

The show will focus on a mysterious surgeon that locks himself up in a technologically advanced prison hospital. Since Halle’s got a show on CBS, the network will get the first crack at her project! Halle hasn’t said anything about appearing on the show, but it might be reasonable to assume that she would pop up –especially if “Extant” doesn’t get renewed for season 2.

Make no mistake, there is concern that “Extant” may not make the cut because the show’s season finale was moved up several weeks, and CBS began airing two episodes back-to-back every week to make the September 17 deadline.

It would be very disappointing if “Extant” was not brought back for season 2, but at least Nicole Beharie would still be able to represent for the brown girls in the TV thriller department with “Sleepy Hollow.”
