A 54-year-old transgender woman from Mississippi has been convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison after performing an “unlicensed silicone buttocks” injection that resulted in a death.
Tracey Lynn Garner, reportedly performed the injections on 37-year-old Karima Gordon in 2012 after Garner granted her request for the “underground, bargain basement butt enhancement,” said Garner’s attorney John M. Collette. Reuters reports that Gordon died in 2012 after falling ill days after her injections. But, Garner was just convicted last week of wire fraud and depraved-heart murder, which means she had no regard for Karima’s life. Investigators reported that they found silicone and syringe bottles that were labeled as “veterinary use only” in Garner’s home.
Natasha Stewart, an exotic dancer who’s also known as “Pebbelz Da Model,” reportedly told Karima about Garner and falsely referenced her as a nurse. Stewart, who was convicted of manslaughter earlier this year, was sentenced to seven years of prison in the death of Karima Gordon. “We felt confident that the evidence would lead to a conviction,” Attorney General Jim Hood said in a statement to the Associated Press. “We hope this verdict will deliver some sense of justice for Ms. Gordon’s family.”
Garner’s case doesn’t just end with Karima’s murder. She is also sentenced in the death of Marilyn Hale, a woman from Alabama, but the trial date has not been announced.
