Stephen Hill Tweets Apologies On Behalf Of BET

*Update* BET suspended the producer behind the insensitive joke about Blue Ivy’s hair. According to reports, the anonymous person is not allowed to speak on the matter.

BET created an unecessary bad press day for themselves this week when someone switched up Karrueche Tran’s script at the very last-minute and inserted a line that insulted Blue Ivy’s natural hair at the 2014 VMAs. Karrueche, who was hosting “106 & Park,” read the line “I really did wake up like this because my parents never comb my hair.”

Since the show aired, the BeyHive have been at Karrueche’s jugular. BET stepped in to express their sincere apologies about the mishap. Stephen Hill, President of BET, released this statement via Twitter:

BET recently announced that “106 & Park” will go on a one-week suspension, but contrary to public belief it isn’t because of the mishap.

While we think Karrueche shouldn’t take full responsibility, we do think she needs to invest in some media training. This isn’t the first time she’s been baited into saying something about someone else that resulted in such backlash. Earlier this year, the aspiring model visited “The KeKe Palmer Show” where she name-dropped Rihanna in a move that left us pondering her brain cell count. Obviously Karrueche didn’t have to read the offensive line, but it shouldn’t have been there to begin with. BET can apologize all they want, but the damage is done.

How done? Well, there’s currently a petition on WhiteHouse.gov that’s demanding Karrueche be deported or sent into exile! It already have 99,000 signatures. Chile, the BeyHive plays no games.
