Boko Haram is still snatching children from their families as the militant group kidnapped a large number of boys this week.

First they came for the girls, now Boko Haram hs shifted their focus to young men.

The Islamic extremist group abducted dozens of boys and men during a raid in Northeastern Nigeria on Sunday, Reuters reports. Witnesses claim that the fighters were dressed in military and police uniforms as they loaded the men into their trucks and burned houses to the ground, leaving 97 people unaccounted for.

“They left no men or boys in the place; only young children, girls and women,” a witness named Halima Adamu told Reuters. “They were shouting ‘Allah Akbar’ (God is greatest), shooting sporadically. There was confusion everywhere. They started [packing] our men and boys into their vehicles, threatening to shoot whoever disobeyed them. Everybody was scared.”

Survivors from the raid also claim that Boko Haram soldiers killed six old men during the attack and wounded five others.

According to Reuters, the militants were able to overpower the villagers in Doron Baga because the citizens had no military support. Those who could escape were forced to flee to Maiduguri.

This comes fourt months after Boko Haram kidnapped more than 200 girls from a school in the middle of the night to keep them from getting an education. Althoug the United States offered its aid to help bring the girls home, sadly, the vast majority of them are still missing.
