HBO's "True Blood" Final Season Premiere - Arrivals

Rutina Wesley has bid a fond farewell to “True Blood” and the fans that have supported her throughout all of the seasons.

There are only nine episodes of the bloody, sexy, addictive HBO series and producers are tugging on heart strings by posting personal messages from the cast on Instagram. First up was Rutina, whose character Tara Thornton was (spoiler alert) killed in the season 7 premiere last week! Since she was the first to go, it was only fitting that she be the first say goodbye.

A rep for the show wrote,”Raise a glass of Tru Blood for Rutina Wesley as she thanks fans for support and love throughout the years. #GoodbyesSuck #TrueBlood”

A week after her unceremonious demise on the show, Trubies are still having a hard time letting go of Tara (including one member of Team Beautiful). The main gripe among viewers is that she deserved a better death scene than being staked off screen. Many still hold out hope that she’ll back in some way because Rutina is listed on the cast roster for upcoming episodes.

The prevailing opinion is that her exit was just disrespectful to fan and to the character that had been roundly abused each and every season on the show. Some viewers are even convinced that her character’s tragic storyline might have something to do with race. As the only black female lead character, Tara rarely had a moment of peace as she was raped, kidnapped, possessed and even shot in the head throughout her run on the show.

Tara’s had plenty of brushes with death in the past. Killing her off screen was kind of a cheap move that upset thousands of viewers. HBO might have beeb trying to make up for that and honor Tara’s memory with the following compliation.
