An artist as legendary as Carlos Santana can command the attention of an audience with any message. But instead of heavily promoting his new HBO Latino documentary, “Santana de Corazon,” he chose to use his platform and massive celebrity to talk about one unifying mission: love.

The documentary chronicles the making of Santana’s upcoming and first ever Latin music album, featuring an all-star cast of musicians from Miguel and Juanes, to Gloria Estefan and Mana. In the documentary, Santana shares that his music (hits like “Oye Como Va” ) is African, and he’s always drawn inspiration from African artists like Angelique Kidjo.

The collection of interviews will be a teaser for “Corazon: Live From Mexico,” a concert that will air on HBO Latino on May 3rd at 8pm, and will be simulcast in Latin America and the Caribbean. The concert will celebrate his upcoming album, Corazon, available May 6.

Hosted by Carlos Ponce, the VIP event also included a touching tribute from the Little Kids Rock School in the Bronx, a beneficiary of Santana’s charity,  the Milagro Foundation. The foundation aids underserved children in education in the arts.
