Norm Lewis Becomes The First African-American Lead In A Broadway Production

‘Phantom of the Opera’ now has a Black lead and it is none other than “Scandal” scar Norm Lewis, making him the first African-American to conquer the color barrier on Broadway.

The beloved play has earned over $5.6 billion worldwide and been played to over 130 million people in 27 countries. The Tony Award nominee will make his debut on May 12 listing his among Michael Crawford, Steve Barton, John Cudia, Kevin Gray, Mark Jacoby, Marcus Lovett, Brad Little, Howard McGillin, and Hugh Panaro, who’ve also donned the legendary Phantom mask.
