It’s been a long time coming, but Isaiah Washington is no longer exiled from “Seattle Grace Hospital.”

ABC announced the actor will return to “Grey’s Anatomy” for a guest appearance in May. Fans of the show may recall that Washington, who was an original member of the “Greys” cast, was fired from the medical drama seven years ago, after allegedly calling fellow cast member, T.R. Knight a “f*****” during an argument with cast member Patrick Dempsey. After receiving backlash for using the homophobic slur, Washington dropped the term again backstage at the 2007 Golden Globes as his cast was doing interviews to celebrate a win.

Washington’s comeback is only going to be for one episode, reprising his role of Dr. Preston Burke. I know you’re wondering why are they bringing this man back? And it’s all for the authenticity of the art. Show creator, Shonda Rimes told The Hollywood Reporter,”It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey — he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.”

Burke was last seen during the third season finale, when he stood Cristina up at the altar on their wedding day, leaving the beloved doctor devastated. But remember, Washington is only welcomed back for one episode. So hold your horses LGBTQ community–this f-bomb dropping man is not back on the show permanently! We’re still waiting to hear exactly when Washington’s making his “Grey’s” comeback, but isn’t it time that we forgave this man? For goodness sakes, he hasn’t had a decent gig since his public apology and meetings with gay-rights organizations. This is literally his first series regular role since he was ousted. And to keep it all the way real–he hasn’t even been photographed, much less invited to any red carpet event since 2007. (I know because I’ve checked Getty images).

I don’t celebrate closed-minded bullies, however, I do forgive. And it seems like the cast and powers that be over at “Grey’s Anatomy” have too. What do you think beauties–does Isaiah Washington deserve another chance?
