“The Tonight Show” producers got it right when they selected Jimmy Fallon to helm the coveted night show reigns in lieu of Jay Leno. He’s young, energetic and most importantly–funny. Fallon, who left his talk show “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” is entertaining and his humor differs from O’ Brien and Letterman in a way that makes late night feel fun again.
“He’s the closest to (Johnny) Carson that I’ve seen of this generation,” producer Lorne Michaels (who also produces “Saturday Night Live”) said. Jimmy proved how deserving he is of the position on his debut episode last night that featured appearances by respected celebs who added to his cool points.
Megastar Will Smith was one of the many stars who stopped by to wish Jimmy success by participating in the greatest Jimmy Fallon skit (outside of playing Pictionary with Drake) in history–the “Evolution of Hip-Hip” dancing. Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Rudy Guliani and Mike Tyson also attended the revamped episode.
