Not only did Lupita Nyong’o ace the red carpet at the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, she went home with the trophy for Best Supporting Actress for work in her first ever feature film, 12 Years a Slave.

The 30-year-old beauty accepted the honor in a gorgeous teal Gucci gown. “Being recognized by your fellow actors is an honor of the highest order,” she said as the audience greeted her with a standing ovation. “Thank you, thank you, thank you, Steve McQueen.”

The Oscar nominee went on to acknowledge Solomon Northup, the real-life inspiration for the film, during her acceptance speech. “Thank you so much for a life well lived and a story hard to tell but told so well,” she added.

Nyong’o defeated Jennifer Lawrence from American Hustle, Julia Roberts from August: Osage County, June Squibb in Nebraska and Oprah Winfrey from Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

Other big winners of the night included American Hustle for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture, “Breaking Bad” for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series and Matthew McConaughey for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in Dallas Buyers Club.

The slavery drama earned the best dramatic film award at the Golden Globes last Sunday, and the top prize at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Thursday night. It also snagged nine Academy Award nominations.

Congrats to the entire cast on a job well done!. Next stop, the Oscars!
