This lady stays on pointe! Ballerina Misty Copeland continues to break ground and smash barriers well beyond the confines of any stage. Her presence is undeniable as the lead female soloist in the American Ballet Theatre, the first African American ballerina to step into the lead slippers in 20 years. But that’s just the beginning. Misty has signed a multi-year deal with Under Armour, the top sports performance and innovation brand. She will be featured in the brand’s largest marketing campaign for its women’s line.
In a press release, Under Armour SVP Leanne Fremar welcomed Misty to a talented roster of world class athletes, including downhill skier Lindsey Vonn and pro-tennis player Sloane Stevens. “Misty Copeland is a game changer. Just as Under Armour is changing our consumer’s expectations around performance gear by infusing it with style and design, Misty is changing the world’s view of what it means to be a world-class ballerina. She brings a modern athleticism to a very traditional art form and pushes the boundaries of the status quo definition of the word ‘athlete.’”
