Unconventional Relationships Are More Accepted:

America is softening on same-sex relationships. As of this year, 15 states have made it legal for gay couples to wed. The media is more accepting of gay culture and it’s becoming more mainstream. So is polyamory. There’s new reality shows popping up everyday that display people involved in multiple consensual relationships. I’m not talking shows like “Big Love” or “Married and Dating,” I am talking about shows like, “The Bachelor” and any of those Vh1 “of Love” shows. That’s not the only old taboo trend turned “normal,” everyday life. Beliefs around marriage are shifting, divorce and multiple marriages aren’t nearly as tongue-in-cheek anymore. The future looks like a hodge podge of blurred lines in dating.

Kink Is Going Mainstream:

From Miley Cyrus’ and Nicki Minaj’s overt sexual behavior to books like “50 Shades of Grey” taking the world by storm, kink is becoming less behind closed doors and more in-your-face. Prime time TV shows explore sexual subcultures in the name of cultural anthropology, while shows like “Masters of Sex” demystify sex. A combination of relaxing moral codes and access to information about everything from fetishes to sexual deviation is providing our world with a new look on sexuality.
