Hooray! Racism is over!  At least according to Republicans.

The GOP tweeted yesterday, “Today we remember Rosa Parks’ bold stand and her role in ending racism,” along with a photo and inspirational quote from the beautiful game-changer who refused to give up her seat to a White man on a bus in Alabama on December 1, 1955.

We all know that because of Rosa’s refusal, she was arrested and became an international icon of resistance to racial segregation as well as the “first lady of Civil Rights.” While her role was a pivotal one for Black people, she was nowhere close to ending racism.

Did they forget all the the many headlines littering the news this year including  ignorant White people in blackface, Paula Deen’s venomous tongue lashings to her kitchen staff and all stories about little Black girls being asked to cut or change their hair or face expulsion from school, to name a few? They tried it.

While I can appreciate the GOP’s efforts, their execution was so incredibly flawed that, given their history of being partial to the majority, it came off racist. Thus disproving their misinformed tweet.

So then Black Twitter did what they do best: attacked the culprit with a creative and hilarious hashtag, #RacismEndedWhen. Check out some of the best tweets from the hashtag below:
